Agencies are experiencing a distinct change in the workforce as seasoned employees retire and incoming talent quickly ramp up to replace their expertise. During these periods, it helps to have outside expertise who can step in to handle day-to-day tasks, mentor staff, or provide expertise on specific projects that are new to the agency. Our range of experience work in both public and private sectors provides the right fit in these transitional times.
In 2017, the District experienced a transition in staff, gaining a new General Manager and needing a replacement District Engineer almost immediately. VWHA was selected to provide interim District Engineering services, and has continued to provide these services since this time. Tasks include addressing questions, issues, and document reviews from a wide range of customers from individual property owners to large multi-family and commercial developments; evaluating system capacity; evaluating discharge permit requirements; assisting with budgeting and strategic planning; assisting with day-to-day technical issues as they arise; and providing capital improvement project support as needed. Having a contracted District Engineer has resulted in cost savings to the District and a healthy shift of responsibility and accountability among staff.
